World Heart Federation World Heart Day – Supporting Global Heart Health Initiatives
Optima’s Ongoing Partnership with the World Heart Federation
Since 2015, Optima Design has been a key partner in the global campaign for World Heart Day, working closely with the World Heart Federation (WHF) to ensure the successful implementation and roll-out of creative concepts that align with the campaign’s goals. World Heart Day, held annually on September 29th, aims to raise awareness about cardiovascular health and encourage individuals, communities, and governments worldwide to take action towards heart health.
Our involvement in World Heart Day has evolved over the years, from supporting creative rollout to managing the official World Heart Day website. While we have not always been the lead creative agency, our team has consistently ensured that all brand elements are respected, goals remain achievable, and creative assets are delivered effectively and consistently across all media platforms.
In late 2016 The World Heart Federation decided to completely update their web strategy. The redesign of the World Heart Federation website (on our suggestion) allowed the sites that had previously functioned as successful microsites to be pulled through into one space. This improved the standing of the site in Google.
Optima became the web-masters for all World Heart Federation sites since the relaunch of the main site in July 2017. In 2021 we then rebuilt the site to match their new brand styling making it more people related and easier to navigate. We further developed the functionality and expanded the ability to view it in 26 languages using Google translate.
Optima have continued to support other microsites that sit as part of the WHF family and give different teams access to certain areas alongside. This includes World Heart Day, CVD RoadMaps and Emerging Leaders. More recently we have created all the graphics and online speakers, programmes and microsite for their World Heart Summit events. https://world-heart- federation.org/world-heart-summit/
Creative Implementation Across Global Media
One of the highlights of our work was bringing creative concepts to life on a global stage, such as the Times Square animation. We adapted the creative to fit within the unique parameters of the iconic Times Square setting, designing the animation around window layouts and curved building surfaces. Our team took charge of the entire process—from storyboarding and animation to delivery—ensuring that the World Heart Day message reached one of the world’s busiest urban locations in a visually compelling way.
A Digital Hub for Heart Health
The World Heart Day website has been a crucial part of the campaign’s success, acting as a central hub for information, resources, and engagement. In our most recent update and expansion of the site for 2024, we saw a X% increase in visitors, with over X resources downloaded and nearly X personalised posters created by users across the globe. These numbers reflect the success of our digital strategy, which prioritizes ease of access, engaging content, and global reach.
We have consistently expanded the resources and interactive features for World Heart Day, including an improved, more searchable resources section and enhanced tools like the poster and social media builders. Additionally, we’ve broadened the language options available and are exploring a free-type solution to support even more languages.
Beyond the website, we assist the WHF team with various online engagement tools, such as questionnaires and petitions. Our team has also developed key infographics for their members portal and World Heart Connect, two external platforms. Currently, we are rebuilding and enhancing their World Health Observatory, further expanding its capabilities.
