World Stroke Organization World Stroke Day website is the focal point of the campaign
An evolving website to act as campaign hub for World Stroke Day held annually on 29 October
Raising global awareness through the World Stroke Day campaign
Since 2016, Optima has worked with the World Stroke Organization (WSO) to develop and maintain both their main website and the dedicated World Stroke Day campaign website. Each year, this evolving campaign website serves as a central hub for raising global awareness and understanding of stroke, with a special focus on stroke prevention, symptom recognition, and the needs of stroke survivors.
World Stroke Day, observed annually on October 29th, provides a key focal point for stroke awareness activities worldwide. Each year, Optima collaborates closely with WSO to ensure the campaign reaches a global audience with impactful, engaging content. The 2024 campaign, themed #GreaterThan Stroke, harnesses the power of sport to encourage everyone to get active, contributing their activity minutes to a worldwide challenge. This innovative initiative aims to inspire people of all ages to be #GreaterThan Stroke by participating in the #GreaterThan Global Challenge.
The campaign website plays a vital role in facilitating engagement through intricate interactions between systems. Optima has designed a seamless platform where users can register, log their activities, and track their contributions on a global challenge map using an integration with the Challenge Hound virtual challenge platform. Using data from Challenge Hound, from unique registration codes to scoring team results we design and develop a system that enables participants to follow their progress and contribute to the global goal. Our expertise in managing complex digital ecosystems ensures the campaign's success in driving global participation.
In addition to public engagement, the campaign website functions as an essential resource hub for WSO’s global partners and member organizations. These partners use the platform to access and download campaign materials, enabling them to promote stroke awareness activities across the globe, ensuring a truly international reach.
We continue to enhance the World Stroke Day campaign website each year, adding impactful resources such as the interactive Stroke Spotter quiz, which we originally developed in previous years. This quiz, now a permanent feature, plays a crucial role in both engaging the public and educating them about stroke symptoms and prevention. Through this dynamic tool, users can learn to spot the signs or stroke, gaining essential knowledge, and take proactive steps to save lives and reduce disability due to stroke. This tool is part of the website’s commitment to not only raise awareness but also empower individuals with life-saving information.
With over 12 million new stroke cases annually and more than 6.5 million resulting deaths, the need for awareness has never been more critical. By developing the World Stroke Day campaign website, Optima plays a key role in supporting WSO’s mission to reduce the global impact of stroke and empower communities worldwide to take preventative action.
